About San Diego

Located in Southern California, snug up against the Pacific Ocean and Tijuana, Mexico, “America’s Finest City” is home to miles of white-sand beaches, more than 1.3 million people and some of the best fish tacos you will find in the United States!

Weather

San Diego is well known for its amazing weather. Generally in the 60’s and 70’s the majority of the year, the weather is typically dry in the day and cool in the evenings. During late summer and early fall, the weather gets a bit more humid and sticky. However, some of the best months to vacation come in September and October, as the days are warm and the evenings are struck with the pillow-like fog of the marine layer. Winter can be known for being wet and somewhat rainy, albeit the area only allows an average of 42 days of rain per year.

Attractions

As you will find by searching through our San Diego Area Guide above, the city has plenty to offer attraction and event wise. Some of the local favorites are the world-renowned San Diego Zoo, LEGOLAND, Cabrillo National Monument, Coronado and Hotel del Coronado, Balboa Park and many, many more.

Economy

San Diego’s economy stems from military, tourism, research and manufacturing, and biotechnology. San Diego has historically been involved in military and defense since the days of World War II. The San Diego Harbor is home to the second largest surface ship base in the United States Navy, plus also has six shipyards along the port, primed for resupply, construction, repair and maintenance.

Local Travel

If you brought your passport, a trip to Mexico is as easy as driving 20 miles south and crossing the international border at San Ysidro. Tijuana and San Diego share a border, and are considered a merger of international metropolitan cities and areas. Locals enjoy the fantastic food, spa, resorts, golf courses, festivals, nightlife and celebrations. Not far south of Tijuana are the beach communities of Ensenada and Rosarito, plus the fabulous wine area of Valle de Guadalupe.

If you have any questions regarding recommendations, feel free to contact us. Also, be sure to plan for your trip by booking one of our San Diego vacation rentals.
